Retief, I have long felt that the way you release the club through the region of impact is robbing you of both distance and consistency. It really makes no sense for a player of your calibre to have won so few times on the various tours.
My first suggestion would be to hit 1/2 swing shots each hand alone so you can better feel, alternately, both left side control and right side control of your ball flights. My thought is that your left elbow and wrist both tend to collapse at impact rather than rotate and extend, ala Hogan.
In the old days, the players talked about the left side shaping the shot and the right side supplying the power. Now, we have a better “connected” approach to the game. But I believe a better left side would do wonders for your power and accuracy.
If you try it, I’d like to hear from you regarding what you discover. Oddly enough, I think this left side feel will get you holing more putts as well.
All the best,
Ozzie
